Shikiar Asset Management Inc. (“Shikiar”) is an
independent registered investment advisor, based in New York City. Since
1995, Shikiar has offered a wide range of investment counseling services
primarily to high net worth individuals, families, and tax-exempt
institutions both domestically and internationally. All portfolios are
separately managed, allowing for customization according to each client’s
specific financial goals and objectives.
The firm was founded by Stuart Shikiar and is based upon the investment
philosophy and process he has developed and refined over three decades of
investment experience. Stuart began his career as a research analyst in 1968,
becoming the Chief Investment Officer of Prudential Securities Investment
Management in the mid-1980’s, overseeing in excess of $2 billion in assets.
He later joined Omega Advisers, a $2 billion hedge fund, as a portfolio
manager and partner, prior to forming his own investment management firm. It
is the in-depth, bottom-up individual company research Stuart has performed
throughout his entire career that serves as the foundation of our team’s
investment process.
It is important to note that over the past three decades, the investment
professionals at Shikiar have managed client portfolios through the myriad of
economic, political, and financial events that have both positively and
negatively impacted the equity and bond markets. It is the team’s depth of
investment knowledge and long portfolio management experience through seven
U.S. presidents, stagflationary periods, inflationary periods, the longest
economic bull market in U.S. history, as well as several recessions and bear
markets, that enables Shikiar to best serve its clients through all types of
markets and economic scenarios.
